Minimum Wage Hike

The report states that while progress was noted in Greece’s implementation of its post-bailout commitments, there are commitments that have yet to be met, most notably in the banking sector.

How will the labour market absorb the wage hike? One would hope it will not be by reducing the number of jobs.

The hike comes into effect in February, and 24 benefits linked to the minimum wage will also increase by extension.

The procedure provides for consultations between the social partners and the government, with the participation of expert academics, research institutes and experts on labour economics, social policy, and labour relations.
