The scheme is simple – the aims of any country that want to become an investment destinat without an investment superpower such as China, which means that the government must pass through the silk road in order to serve its basic strategy.

The aim is to attract enough investment to trigger a development explosion that will offer significant momentum to the Greek economy.

The prime minister’s trip to China serves that aim. The large business delegation that accompanied him reflects that.

It is the same aim as the previous government and some opposition parties were opposed to Chinese investment.

Fortunately that era seems to have passed and the interest appears to be mutual.

That is demonstrated by the the fact that Greece is amont the honoured countries at the China International Import Expo 2019 in Shanghai, and even more by the fact that the Chinese president will be visiting Greece soon.

The climate could not be better for forging a commercial relationship from which Greece will gain significant benefits.
